Canada does top some of its competitors in speed for issuing permits, but this can always be improved and streamlined. EAs are critical, but too lengthy. Companies can’t afford the uncertainty and time it takes to get a project up and running especially when coupled with volatility and market uncertainty.

There shouldn't be permits and assessments at both the federal and provincial level. Make it simpler for companies to get projects off the ground by streamlining the regulations and making the faster. Navigating all the requirements is not easy, its long and complicated and a lot of smaller companies don't have the financial capacity to afford delays and they don't have to human capital to complete all the required steps.

thenorth is correct, also need to ensure law backs these decisions. It is far too easy for groups of people who oppose lawful projects to step in the way without repercussions, The rights of Mining/Exploration companies along with their investors need to be upheld and laws enforced.
