Engagement Session with Experts in Saskatoon
December 3, 2018 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
On December 3 2018, Canadian Minerals and Metals Plan (CMMP) Secretariat held an engagement session and workshop with participants from industry and government ahead of the Saskatchewan Geological Open House in Saskatoon. Approximately ten participants took part in a round-table discussion that focused on the six Strategic Directions, and used a dot-mocracy tool to provide feedback about actions they would most like to see prioritized.
Actions that received the most votes include:
- Increasing assistance to federal, provincial and territorial geoscience surveys and university researchers.
- Establishing a very clear and simple process for regulation.
- Developing a national program to help build community capacity for future Indigenous mining communities.
- Supporting the development of the next generation of geoscience tools in mineral exploration.
Participants were vocal about their view that the CMMP should prioritize the Economic Development and Competitiveness Strategic Direction.
